Screening has helped our school district immensely. When we rolled out the screeners, we knew students would flag, but we didn't realize how many. RBHI helped us save lives. Students who weren't on our radar were able to get immediate assistance from trained and quality staff. I was impressed by their professionalism and customer service throughout the entire process. Research tells us that about 10% of any group of Montana students is contemplating committing suicide. We often cannot tell if an individual is feeling anxious, depressed, or suicidal. The mental health screening provided by the Rural Behavioral Health Institute is convenient, quick, and easy to complete. Parents give permission for the screening, and student confidentiality is ensured. The screening helped our school identify students who would benefit from meeting with a therapist or, in some cases, a child psychiatrist. Outside of the screening itself, the best thing about RBHI's process is that students are seen by a therapist within hours instead of waiting weeks to be seen--if their parents can locate a therapist who will see their child.

Our partnership with the Rural Behavioral Health Institute has really been a game changer for us in terms of better supporting our students in the realm of mental health. We have been able to identify students who previously flew under the radar through the survey. Institute staff have supported and connected our team with tools to better help our youth work through their issues. I will partner with them as long as I am in education, and I'd urge other districts to do so as well; the kids you are aware of are just the tip of the iceberg in terms of those who could use help!

It has been an incredible partnership for our school district. The mental health screening has been a vital tool in evaluating the mental health of our student population. It has been instrumental in aiding us to identify students who otherwise may not have come forward for help. While the resulting data paints a more comprehensive picture of our population, it is the sense of relief knowing and understanding our students on a deeper level that we value the most.​

RBHI screening, case management and their link-to-care was a game-changer for our district. We were able to identify which of our students were struggling and immediately provide them and their families with support and access to care. The RBHI staff is competent, caring and responsive to all questions, needs, and/or support our students, families and district needed. We are so thankful we were able to secure their services during the 2022-2023 pilot. The results were so impressive we have scheduled to have our students screened next year, through the 2024-2025 school year, and hopefully beyond. This is the most impactful opportunity we have had to positively intervene and support students and families in our districts many years of working to support our students and their mental health needs.
